Switching

Businesses can apply to switch to ScottishPower up to 180 days before their current contract ends. Quotes are available online at scottishpower-businesssales.co.uk or on 0800 634 5511 (Mon-Fri 9am-5pm). You need the business address, annual consumption in kWh and the MPAN (electricity) and/or MPRN (gas) from a recent bill. ScottishPower sends the registration request to the current supplier about four weeks before the requested start date, and may ask for opening meter readings. Fixed-term For Business tariffs (1, 2 or 3 years) have a fixed energy part and a variable part covering network, social and environmental costs; the variable part is reviewed quarterly, with changes taking effect on 1 January, April, July and October. Advantage for Business customers get personalised renewal quotes in the last 12 months of their contract. When a contract ends without a new tariff being chosen, supply moves to the Standard Variable tariff, which ScottishPower says is typically higher than its For Business tariffs. Business smart meters are installed free, with half-hourly readings available on opt-in.
