Robin Hood Energy

Robin Hood Energy was a not-for-profit gas and electricity supplier set up by Nottingham City Council in 2015. In September 2020 its customers, including about 2,600 businesses, were sold to British Gas. The company stopped trading and went into administration on 5 January 2021, and it was dissolved on 6 May 2025 after a creditors' voluntary liquidation.

Customers and switching

Robin Hood Energy no longer supplies gas or electricity, so businesses cannot switch to it. In September 2020 Nottingham City Council agreed to sell its customer base to British Gas. The deal covered about 112,000 households and 2,600 business customers, and the council said customers did not need to take any action. Former business customers were moved to British Gas. They can now compare British Gas with other suppliers when their current contract allows.
