Go Effortless Energy was the trading name of Effortless Energy Ltd, a small family-run gas and electricity supplier based in Stoke-on-Trent. It was founded in 2013 and offered a single tariff paid by monthly Direct Debit. The company ceased trading in September 2020 with about 2,500 domestic customers and a small number of business customers. Ofgem revoked its licences and moved its customers to Octopus Energy, and the company entered creditors' voluntary liquidation on 19 October 2020.

Customers and switching

Go Effortless Energy no longer supplies energy, so you cannot switch to it. Ofgem revoked its electricity and gas supply licences with effect from 5 September 2020. From that date its customers were moved to Octopus Energy on a deemed tariff, with no exit fees if they then switched away. Octopus honoured credit balances for current and past Effortless customers. Former customers who still owed Effortless money were told that the administrators or Octopus would contact them about repayment. Octopus did not have to take on unresolved complaints, and the Energy Ombudsman can no longer review disputes against Go Effortless. Octopus's contact details for affected customers were effortless@octopus.energy and 0808 164 1088 (2020 details). The liquidation is still open: the current liquidator is Michael John Gillard of Mackenzie Goldberg Johnson, Crewe.
