Contract Natural Gas (CNG) was a Harrogate-based gas supplier to UK businesses. It started trading in 1994 and stopped in November 2021, during the wholesale gas price crisis. Ofgem moved its roughly 41,000 non-domestic customers to Pozitive Energy under the Supplier of Last Resort process. Contract Natural Gas Limited is now in creditors' voluntary liquidation, run by Interpath.

Customers and switching

CNG is no longer trading, so you can't switch to it. Its retail supply companies, CNG Energy Limited and CNG Electricity Limited, stopped trading on 3 November 2021, when they supplied around 41,000 non-domestic customers. Ofgem appointed Pozitive Energy as Supplier of Last Resort for those gas and electricity customers. Pozitive Energy said it would honour credit balances for current and former CNG Energy non-domestic customers. Former CNG customers who haven't switched since then are still with Pozitive Energy. Ofgem revoked the gas supply licence held by Contract Natural Gas Limited itself from 17 December 2021 because the company couldn't pay its debts. It was not supplying customers by then.
