Switching

Switching in: get a quote, British Gas sends a contract pack for reference, then contacts the existing supplier and processes the switch; a meter reading is required before supply transfers (including where a smart meter is fitted by another supplier). The switch is straightforward where the business is paid up and not tied into an existing contract. Lite is online-only with web-chat support (8am–6pm, Mon–Fri) and is also sold through brokers. When a fixed Lite plan ends without renewal, supply moves to the Lite Variable Price Plan; bespoke plans roll onto Standard Variable Rates; rate changes carry 30 days' written notice. Businesses moving into premises supplied by British Gas without a contract pay deemed rates until they agree a plan.
