On the whole, Yu Energy has a very positive score on Trustpilot. Most of their negative reviews do seem to be one-off situations that can happen for a variety of reasons.

Contract Length and Fees

Fixed Price Plan

Yu Energy’s fixed price plan allows you to manage your business’s energy costs.

The typical plans are usually between 1 and three years in length, and they promise not to change their prices mid-way through your contract suddenly, so you know you’ll only be paying for the energy that you use.

Freedom Price Plan

This is a more flexible plan that companies are usually put on after their current contract ends if you haven’t agreed with Yu Energy to come to a different deal.

Yu Energy will inform you of what prices you can expect in advance of your contract coming up for renewal.

To avoid going on this plan, your business needs to give Yu Energy 30 days notice when you are planning to switch supplier or agree on a new Fixed Price Plan.

Deemed Price Plan

A deemed price plan will be your automatic plan if you move into a premise that Yu Energy supplies but you have not switched suppliers or agreed on a contract with Yu Energy.

This will often be more expensive than being in a contract with an energy supplier, so it is essential to make those calls as soon as possible.

Transition Price Plan

If you choose not to renew your Fixed Price Plan with Yu Energy, but another company has not registered your meter, you will be put on a transition price plan.

Payment Default Price Plan

If you default on your agreed payments, Yu Energy will transfer you to a ‘Payment Default Price Plan’.

Yu Energy has a 5-star rating on Trustpilot, with 86% of over 200 reviews positive and 8% negative.

Most of the negative reviews seem to be because of issues surrounding miscommunication between brokers, customers and suppliers, which are usually one-off situations that do not necessarily reflect negatively on the company.

Although online reviews aren’t always accurate, they should still be considered when looking at a company to potentially switch to.
