SolarCity is now operating + offering its services in the area of Reno, Sparks, and Carson City, Nevada. The rooftop solar services provider will be opening a Reno operations center in a couple of months (in April), and will be hiring at least 30 locals over the next few months to staff the facility, according to an email sent to Solar Love this week.
The company is now open to taking orders from homeowners in Reno, Sparks, and Carson City, but installations aren’t expected to begin until after the operations center opens in a few months. Nevada’s strong sun makes solar power more affordable and gives the state the potential to become one of the largest solar markets in America. SolarCity has already attracted thousands of local customers in the state less than a year after it launched residential solar service in the Las Vegas area. SolarCity is also Nevada’s largest solar employer with more than 1,000 employees in the state. Nevada’s solar jobs increased 146% in The Solar Foundation’s 2014 jobs census, and the state now places #1 in the nation in solar jobs per capita.
SolarCity can allow area homeowners to go solar for as little as $30 per month, with design, installation, financing, insurance and monitoring included. SolarCity will initially serve customers of NV Energy.
Those interested can find out more at the company’s website, or by telephone, at 1-888-SOL-CITY (1-888-765-2489). The company offers free, no-obligation solar consultations.
Along with the Tesla Gigafactory that is now bringing a lot of jobs and a real estate boom to the Reno area, it seems Elon Musk will go down in history as a key economic player in this region.
